Heating Systems

When it comes to choosing the right company for your home’s heating system installation or service, there are some important aspects to keep in mind to keep you from getting left in the cold during harsh winter months.

Finding and hiring a professional and reliable heating company before there are issues is your best bet, but after issues occur, you’ll want to be sure you can rely on the heating company of your choice to get your heating system back up and running as quickly and professionally as possible.

Word of mouth is one way to discover who your friends and neighbors have used successfully or avoided, so is taking a look online to check out customer reviews or Better Business Ratings. Be sure to responsibly compare prices and choose value over savings. Beware of the lowest bidder; there’s probably an underlying reason behind a contractor offering to perform services far below the industry’s average in your area. Some of these include not being properly licensed or experienced.

Do your research on the brands you are interested in for installation and find out what others have said about them. It is common for higher priced heating systems to help you realize a better long term cost savings. Ask about special rebates from the manufacturer or installer and collect quotes in writing.

The heating professionals at Pilgrim Plumbing & Heating welcome you to make informed decisions when choosing the right heating company for your need. That’s why we offer up front pricing and we share our customer’s feedback. Pilgrim Plumbing & Heating are experts in “wet heat” heating systems. Wet Heat Systems are those that use hot water circulating through a system of pipes that are connected to a series of radiators throughout the building or home. The center of a wet heat system is the boiler, also sometimes called a heat exchanger. This boiler heats the water that is then distributed through the piping.

Radiators used throughout homes and buildings not only give off radiant heat, they actually deliver most of their warm air through convection, which is the process of warm air rising and cooler air sinking. This effect causes warm air to circulate evenly through rooms.

The hot water pipes may also run through a hot water heater system, providing a heat source to keep the hot water you use in your faucets and showers nice and hot.

Is Filtered Water Really Better Than Bottled Water?

Thursday, August 31, 2017

The first question to ask yourself is whether or not your home  needs better drinking water. A water filtration system is only useful if it takes bad stuff out of your water without putting any bad stuff back in. If it is not doing its job, it could become a bed for bacterial growth or chemical treatments. This could be worse than just drinking the tap water. Don't rush out and buy a water filtration system simply because it is trendy. Research is important.
